Say Yes To The Dress: Brooklyn Style

So, picking your wedding dress is one of the most excitingly nauseating experiences you will ever encounter. My dress shopping experience was extremely unconventional. Before I get into it there is a little backstory so you will be abreast with my circumstances. My mother passed away a few weeks after my engagement which definitely changed a lot things within my family and this wedding process. Everything was really and truly solely on me to decide. Now that that is cleared up, onto the story.
I had gone to David's Bridal during that summer with my future mother in law to have the mother- daughter dress buying experience but unfortunately it didn't really work out the way I saw it in my mind. I found a dress that I almost bought but something strong in my spirit held me back. I decided that instead of pushing for tradition, I will let things happen on their own. I received an email from Brides Against Breast Cancer, an organization that collects donated gently-used wedding gowns; sells them for reasonable prices; and donates the majority of the proceeds to breast cancer research, about a gown sale event coming to Baltimore that weekend. I decided to check it out. I invited my sister Desiree to come along for the ride. It didn't hurt that I trust her judgment either.

Anyway, we went in with a $600 budget in mind. We pulled about 6 dresses in my size and price range.  I tried the first 3 on and just as quick as I got in them, I jumped right back out. All dresses that are plus size don't actually fit every plus size woman. Different curves=Different problems. On to dress #4! I tried it on and I was in total shock. It was the same exact dress from David's Bridal that I tried on a few months before. It was the same color, price and actually altered to my exact height already. I thought, "This must be a sign." Desiree said, "Its beautiful but I don't think it's you." I agreed. Next!
The next dress was so  simple. It was a white satin ball-gown with a sweet heart neckline. I looked at myself for about 5 minutes in the mirror wondering what about this dress screams ME? I adjusted it and wiped down my sides to find a pleasant surprise, pockets! I was sold. it was amazing. That simple addition made this dress a gem. I got out of the dress slowly. I strategically placed each hook on the hanger so that the dress was contained. Before I handed it off to my lovely stylist for the day, I noticed the brand name of my dream dress. It was from Jasmine Bridal (my real name is Jasmine by the way). That was undeniably a sign! No, it was Fate!
